Pottering the Blues

Artist and hub member Olivia Ni Canabhain has been pottering and creating beautifully hand crafted pourers, pots and bowls in her studio. Olivia’s distinctive designs in pretty blue hues would certainly brighten any table during these blue times.

Artistic Upcycling

This week’s DIY project by Hub Member Carmel O’Callaghan – take one old garden table…cut up some shapes think Monet or Kandinsky, spray primer and some spray paints and old cd’s to hold the paper down and voila!

Crocheting through COVID

Visual artist and BCH committee member Caroline Clarke has temporarily put down her paint brushes in favour of her crochet hook and wool palette to create tiny hats for newborn babies. The cute and colourful little hats have been donated to Hollis Street Hospital.

Caroline has also crocheted ear protectors for our frontline staff at Cavan hospital. The ear protectors help to prevent sore ears for the staff wearing protective masks for hours at a time.

Hubsters continue to Create in Lockdown

Being in lockdown has not deterred our group members from continuing to create and have a variety of successes.

In the past week members Fidel Hogan Walsh and Colette Gemmell have both had poetry published and additionally Colette continues to win prizes for her stunning photography.

Following the success of her first collection of poems ‘Living with Love’ launched in February 2020 Fidel has had her recent poem ‘2020, Memories’ published on pandemic.ie an online literary magazine for exceptional times. Her thought provoking words ring true for the times extraordinary times we are experiencing.

Colette Gemmell also had a poem published ‘Spring 50 Words’ in Little Gems Magazine and won a prize for her stunning photo of a 7 spotted ladybird from Irish Ladybirds. Both Colettes  poem and photo a beautiful celebration of Spring.

Well done to both members.
